Greetings, Intern

Intern Geoffrey cleaning up some garbage on the outskirts of Cusco.

Welcome to the most amazing experience of your life. We can get the show on the road as soon as you've completed the following crucial tasks:

1) E-Learning Intern Orientation Module:

Click here to learn all about Ascend from a robot.

2) Scope out the Office

You'll be spending most of your time in the Bullpen. You might also want to:

- Find out where the snacks and restrooms are located
- Connect to "ascend" with password: !sm@rt!!
- Meet everybody, even the boss...
- Decide where your spot will be
- Learn how to answer the phone...trickier than it sounds, read this

3) Enjoy Donor Perfect

Donor information and much more lives here.

- Login: ascend4

- Password: ascender

- Have another intern or Rocio help you add your personal information

Remember to add a flag: or Intern: Office USA

4) Meet Net Documents

Log in, look around, this is where we store our documents.

www.netdocuments.com

Login: intern

Password: millrock

Have another intern explain the folder hierarchy and search feature.

5) Log in to Picasa

Check out our photo galleries and see what we do. If you don't know how Picasa works, ask your neighbor or use online help.

http://www.picasaweb.google.com/

- Login to Google: info@ascendalliance.org

- Password: ascendphotos

- Have another intern explain photo tags and captions, and how to upload photos

6) Sign Intern Contract

You're capable, and now you know about Net Docs. Click here, download and update this file with your name, the duration of your internship and any other pertinent details, print a copy, sign and submit it to Caleb Braley, or scan and email to caleb@ascendalliance.org.

7) Sign Staff Procedure Manual

This is the most fun part. You might be starting to detect a pattern here, but it is on Net Docs, here. Sign the verification of reading on the last page, hold on to a copy for yourself and submit the other to our Accountant, Drake Shattuck. He'll create a Quickbooks login for you, so we can track your hours.

8) Formalize Schedule

You will need to formalize your schedule and send an email to Caleb Braley and Rocio Martinez listing your regularly scheduled hours: caleb@ascendalliance.org/rocio@ascendalliance.org

9) Write your own Linkedin Recommendation

Don't know what Linkedin is? Google it. Write an average length recom

mendation that you hope to live up to during your internship. If you do indeed live up to it, I will take the time to write a nice, personal recommendation that reflects your character and strengths.

Write an email to Caleb containing your personal recommendation. Save and make a copy for yourself.

10) Verification

Print out a copy of this Knowledge Base entry, check off all 10 things once they are done, sign the bottom and submit to Caleb Braley.

Ok, you're done. Find your supervisor and get yourself some assignments if

you're not swamped already.

Words of wisdom: Your internship is what you make it. Communication and dedication are the keys to success. If you have issues, communicate them directly to your superior. If you apply yourself and become a visionary, who knows where you could go.
